ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Atlantic City police officers responded to three separate emergencies on Wednesday, acting quickly to assist individuals in medical and emotional distress.
At 12:56 p.m., Captain Donnell Holland was flagged down near South Carolina and Central Avenues about an unconscious man. Holland began chest compressions until medical personnel arrived and the man was revived.
Later, at 5:31 p.m., officers responded to a parking garage for a report of a man on the ledge threatening to jump. Officers Kyle Bender and Melvin Murray III approached undetected while the man was distracted and pulled him to safety with help from Officers Janicquea Harold and Atiqil Islam. The man was transported for evaluation. Police did not disclose the exact location of the incident.
At 6:52 p.m., officers responded to Florida Avenue where a 13-year-old swimmer was caught in a rip current. Sergeant Jonathan Walsh removed his equipment and entered the water, joined by Officers Kyle Riordan, Kyle Bender, and Aidan Richardson, to bring the swimmer to safety.
The department credited coordinated action by its officers for successful outcomes in all three incidents.
