CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft after officers discovered a damaged Hyundai Sonata on Pine Street last week, according to a Cambridge Police Department press release.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Pine Street around 8:02 a.m. on January 20 after the vehicle’s owner reported that their 2011 Hyundai Sonata had been broken into and an apparent attempt was made to steal it. Responding officers found a broken window, indicating forced entry, and a damaged steering column consistent with an effort to start the car without a key.
Investigators believe the attempted theft occurred sometime between 8 a.m. on January 19 and 7:50 a.m. the following morning. No suspects have been identified at this time, and police said the case remains active.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has surveillance footage to contact the Cambridge Police Department at 410-228-3333.
