Cambridge shopper finds six figure win after errands

Retired Cambridge factory worker lands 100000 lottery win

Cambridge, MD – A routine grocery run turned into a life-changing moment when a retired factory worker discovered she was holding a $100,000 winning lottery ticket, marking the first top prize claimed in a new Maryland scratch-off game.

The Dorchester County woman had stopped at the Cambridge Lottery Store on Washington Street to play her regular Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 numbers. While there, she also purchased a $10 50X the Cash scratch-off ticket, a game that launched in January. She left the store and headed to another errand before scratching the ticket.

While handling business at the next location, the ticket revealed a $100,000 prize. To confirm the result, she scanned the ticket using her phone and verified the win.

After multiple checks, the winner returned home and shared the news with her husband. She secured the ticket until she was able to officially claim the prize.

The retired worker told Lottery officials she plans to place the winnings into her retirement savings.

The Cambridge Lottery Store, located at 222 Washington Street, will also benefit from the win, receiving a $1,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The 50X the Cash scratch-off game launched in January with nine $100,000 top prizes. Eight of those prizes now remain. All ten $50,000 second-tier prizes are still unclaimed, along with 22 prizes worth $10,000 and hundreds of thousands of prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
