Candy crook swipes nearly $400 in sweets from Wawa in broad daylight
North Plainfield, NJ — A bold midday shoplifter walked into a Wawa on September 20 and walked out with nearly $400 worth of candy, according to police, and now investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
The theft occurred around 2:25 p.m., when a male suspect allegedly grabbed a massive haul of name-brand sweets before fleeing the store. Surveillance footage captured the suspect inside the store prior to the theft, and his image has been released by the North Plainfield Police Department as part of their ongoing investigation.
The total haul included:
- 36 Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Cream bars
- 24 packs of Peanut M&Ms
- 16 Reese’s Caramel bars
- 24 packs of Skittles
- 32 Reese’s Big Cups
The combined retail value of the stolen candy was $397.02.
