Teen suspects arrested after armed carjacking in East Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD — A broad daylight carjacking on Monday ended with three teenagers in handcuffs after police tracked down a stolen vehicle and captured the suspects following a short foot chase in East Baltimore.

Just after 12 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Montpelier Street, where a 49-year-old man reported being robbed by three male suspects who stole his cash and fled in his 2021 Toyota Camry.

With assistance from the department’s aviation unit, Foxtrot, the stolen vehicle was located near Belair Road and Erdman Avenue. When officers closed in, the suspects bailed from the car and attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by Eastern District officers.

Police identified the suspects as two 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old. Investigators say both the 14-year-old and 15-year-old have previous arrests for handgun violations, auto theft, and robbery.

The teens were taken to the Juvenile Justice Center and charged with armed robbery and carjacking. The investigation is ongoing.
