Chesapeake Beach Fireworks Postponed to July 7 Due to Weather

Chesapeake Beach, MD – The annual fireworks display in Chesapeake Beach has been postponed to July 7 at dusk due to the unpredictability of scattered storms forecasted for July 6.

The town prioritizes the safety of spectators and the crews responsible for the display. The fireworks are positioned on two barges in the Bay, each measuring 30 x 90 feet. The crew must load and transport over 9,000 pyrotechnic shells across approximately 15 nautical miles to position the barges and another 15 nautical miles after the display. Hazardous bay conditions, thunder, or lightning pose significant risks to the crew’s safety.

The town will continue to evaluate conditions with the Captain transporting the barges and aims to provide updates as early as possible. Official notices regarding the fireworks display will be available on the Town of Chesapeake Beach website under the “news” section, via e-blasts, and on the town’s social media events page @tocbevents.

Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the town’s official notices to receive the latest information.
