Man dies after West Baltimore hit-and-run ruled homicide
Baltimore, MD — A man who was struck by a vehicle in West Baltimore early Thursday morning has died from his injuries, and investigators have determined the incident was a homicide following witness interviews and a developing investigation.
Philip Jones, 48, was found with multiple injuries to his head and body in the 1200 block of West North Avenue just after 8 a.m. Thursday. A patrol officer in the area was alerted to the scene during routine rounds and discovered Jones lying in the street.
Emergency medical crews transported Jones to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries Saturday.
Investigators initially treated the case as a hit-and-run but later determined the circumstances surrounding the impact were intentional. Witness interviews and forensic evidence led homicide detectives to conclude Jones was deliberately struck.
