Cory Booker gets a book deal based on New Jersey senator’s marathon snoozefest

NEW YORK, N.Y. — St. Martin’s Press has acquired world rights to Stand, a new book by U.S. Senator Cory Booker, inspired by his recent 25-hour Senate speech, the publisher announced Wednesday.

The deal was brokered by agents Jennifer Joel and Esther Newberg at Creative Artists Agency. According to St. Martin’s, the book “explores how our choices today shape the future—and offers a passionate call to conscience and a guide for courageous engagement.”

Booker delivered the speech on the Senate floor from March 31 to April 1, surpassing the 1957 filibuster by Strom Thurmond and setting the new record for longest continuous speech in Senate history. The address reportedly served as the framework for the themes covered in Stand.

The book is scheduled for release on November 11. No further details on the manuscript or its structure have been disclosed.

St. Martin’s has not yet announced whether Booker will participate in a national book tour or promotional events surrounding the launch.
