Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV near Winding River Campground in Hamilton Township

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. — A 71-year-old man from Egg Harbor Township was killed Monday afternoon in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Weymouth Road, authorities said.

According to the Township of Hamilton Police Department, officers responded to the scene near Winding River Campground at approximately 3:10 p.m. following reports of a motor vehicle collision.

An initial investigation determined that a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by William Faust, 78, of Mays Landing, was traveling southbound on Weymouth Road when he attempted a left turn and collided with a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by Vance Virtue.

Virtue was pronounced dead at the scene. Faust sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to AtlantiCare City Division for treatment.

Traffic diverted during investigation

Authorities closed a portion of Weymouth Road for several hours while investigators documented the scene and collected evidence. No charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police have not indicated whether speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
