CHERRY HILL, N.J. — A motor vehicle crash early Monday morning has closed all westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of Route 70 near Hampton Boulevard, prompting delays and detours in the area.
The incident, reported at 6:09 a.m., led to the complete closure of Route 70 Westbound just before Hampton Boulevard. Additionally, the right lane of Route 70 Eastbound remains shut down, according to the Cherry Hill Police Department and New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Traffic Operations Center.
As of 7:00 a.m., emergency crews were still on the scene. The exact number of vehicles involved or the extent of injuries, if any, has not been disclosed.
Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews respond to the crash. “Please seek alternate route or use caution when travelling in the area,” Cherry Hill Police stated in a public advisory.
No estimated time for reopening the affected lanes has been provided.
NJ DOT reports full westbound closure near Cuthbert Boulevard
According to NJ DOT, all westbound lanes of Route 70 are closed at a point west of County Road 636/Cuthbert Boulevard in nearby Pennsauken Township. The closure has caused backups along the corridor as morning traffic builds.
