Traffic stop leads to drug arrest after K-9 detects crack cocaine in Cumberland
Cumberland, MD — A routine traffic stop on W. Second Street Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a 44-year-old woman after a police K-9 detected the presence of drugs inside the vehicle.
According to the Cumberland Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle on January 15 and made contact with its occupants. During the stop, a K-9 unit was deployed for a free-air sniff around the vehicle, and the dog alerted officers to the likely presence of controlled dangerous substances.
A search of the vehicle followed, leading officers to discover suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the possession of Rebecca Lynn Warehime, a Cumberland resident.
Warehime was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and later released on criminal citations. She faces charges of CDS Possession Not Marijuana and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia. Her case is pending trial.
