Man gunned down in Northeast DC as police hunt dark blue Audi tied to deadly shooting

WASHINGTON, DC — A man was killed in a Northeast Washington shooting Monday evening as detectives searched for a dark blue SUV believed connected to the gunfire that erupted in the city’s Mayfair neighborhood.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded around 6:28 p.m. to the 3700 block of Hayes Street Northeast after reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died despite lifesaving efforts, police said.

Investigators are now searching for a dark blue Audi Q5 believed connected to the shooting. Authorities said the SUV may be displaying Virginia license plates.

Police have not yet released the victim’s identity or information about a possible suspect.

The homicide investigation remains active.
