Late-night burglary foiled as DC cops catch suspects outside ransacked store

WASHINGTON, DC – Two men were arrested late Saturday night after police patrolling Northeast spotted stolen merchandise outside a convenience store and quickly uncovered a burglary in progress.

Around 11:53 p.m. on August 30, officers from the Sixth District Crime Suppression Team were patrolling in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue NE when they noticed items belonging to a store scattered outside its entrance.

Surveillance footage later confirmed that 58-year-old Michael Morgan, who has no fixed address, and 27-year-old Keon Brown of Southeast DC had removed property from the store and carried it to the parking lot. Both were taken into custody at the scene.

Police say the suspects were charged with Burglary Two. No injuries were reported during the incident, and authorities have not disclosed the type or value of the stolen items.
