Deadly Newburgh Stabbing Case Ends with Manslaughter Plea

NEWBURGH, NY – On Thursday, Cameron Williams, 26, from New Windsor, entered a guilty plea to Manslaughter in the First Degree in Orange County Court. This announcement was made by Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler, who confirmed the plea agreement anticipates an 18-year prison sentence and five years of post-release supervision for Williams, with formal sentencing set for June 18.

Court documents and statements detailed the events of October 13, 2024, around 10:45 p.m. in Newburgh. Williams allegedly armed himself with several kitchen knives and fatally stabbed a man on West Parmenter Street. The Newburgh Police Department’s investigation subsequently identified Williams as the suspect, leading to his arrest.

During the plea hearing, Williams admitted to intending to inflict serious physical harm, resulting in the victim’s death. District Attorney Hoovler remarked on the crime’s violence and emphasized the importance of meaningful punishment while acknowledging the family’s pursuit of closure.

The prosecution team for the case comprises Senior Assistant District Attorney Christopher Kelly and Assistant District Attorney Kevin Sharp.
