Public intoxication arrest made after deputy observes stumbling man
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man carrying a bottle of alcohol was arrested behind a Stafford County Walmart after a deputy spotted him stumbling through the area late Monday night, authorities said.
The incident happened around 9:49 p.m. near 11 Village Parkway.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Delaney observed a man stumbling behind the Walmart and stopped to investigate.
When the deputy made contact, the man admitted he had consumed alcohol earlier in the day.
Authorities said the suspect showed signs of intoxication, including an unsteady balance and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath.
During the arrest, deputies discovered a bottle of alcohol on the suspect.
The man was identified as 44-year-old Jose Nativi of Manassas.
Nativi was charged with public intoxication and transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held until sober.
