VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL – Residents in Volusia County were on edge today after many received a text alert saying there was a sexual predator moving into the neighborhood within 1,000 feet of their home. The message was sent in error about a predator who just left the community for DeLand.
“Volusia County residents: You may have just gotten a text saying a sexual predator moved within 1,000 feet of your residence. That message was sent in error to ALL users. You should be getting a follow up message shortly. Sorry for the error,” the VCSO said in a statement.
A correction message was sent to alert residents of the error.
