Tragic end for Dover motorcyclist in early morning wreck

DOVER, DE — A 58-year-old man from Dover died in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash early Sunday morning after being ejected from his bike, according to the Dover Police Department.

At approximately 4:14 a.m. on May 11, officers responded to the area of White Oak Road and Garrison Oak Drive for a report of a serious crash. The victim, who was operating a Kawasaki motorcycle, was found lying in a field off the roadway after being thrown from the vehicle.

Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Crash investigation ongoing as cause remains unclear

An initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on White Oak Road, just west of Garrison Oak Drive, when it left the roadway and struck a ditch, resulting in the rider’s ejection.

It remains unclear what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. Authorities are working to determine if speed, alcohol, or drugs played a role in the fatal crash. The victim’s body has been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Dover Police Department.
