Dover, DE – With snow expected to begin later today and continue into Sunday, the Dover Police Department is reminding residents to move their vehicles off key roadways to allow plows and emergency vehicles to operate safely.
Police said all vehicles must be removed from State Street, Governors Avenue, Division Street, and Water Street no later than one hour after snowfall begins.
Any vehicle left parked on those routes is subject to towing at the owner’s expense.
Key routes must remain clear for emergency access
Officials emphasized that the designated streets are essential for emergency response, hospital access, and public safety operations during storms. While only these roads are under mandatory parking restrictions, police strongly encourage residents to avoid street parking citywide to assist snow removal efforts and prevent cars from being plowed in.
Safety urged during winter weather
Drivers who must travel are advised to slow down, allow additional travel time, and maintain a safe following distance on snow-covered or icy roads. The city’s Public Works Department is preparing for plowing and salting operations as the storm moves in.
