JACKSON, NJ – Drunk drivers in Jackson Township just aren’t following New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s “Stay at Home” order. Police here reported three incidents where drivers just couldn’t resist the urge to get trashed and get behind the wheel.
Thursday April 16:
– DWI: At 1855 hours, officers responded to the report of a car vs. utility pole motor vehicle crash on Bowman Road. During the investigation, the 61 year old male driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment and was later charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle violations. The roadway was closed while repairs to the pole were made.
– Also on this date, officers responded to a report of an overdose, missing person, crisis intervention and several dispute calls.
Sunday April 19:
– DWI: At 0704 hours, officers responded to the Quick Chek located on South New Prospect Road on the report of a male who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle. The investigation resulted in the arrest of the 23 year old male driver for driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released on summons pending a court appearance.
– DWI: At 1805 hours, officers responded to the lake in Colliers Mills located off of Hawkin Road on the report of a disabled motor vehicle and distraught female. Officers located the vehicle and 60 year old female driver who claimed to have been out shopping earlier and somehow ended up in Colliers Mills. First Aid responded to check the female and afterwards the investigation continued and she was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and the vehicle was impounded. She was processed and charged with driving while intoxicated and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. She was released on summons pending a court appearance.
