Drivers of Tesla Cybertruck and Lamborghini arrested after viral street race in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Two drivers involved in a high-profile street race between a Tesla Cybertruck and a Lamborghini, which went viral on social media, have been arrested by Fairfax County police.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) reported that detectives became aware of the illegal race on October 29 after a video showing the event gained widespread attention online. The race took place on October 13 near Leesburg Pike and Westwood Center Drive, with the video eventually amassing over 100 million views and even catching the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who commented on it.

After an investigation, police identified the drivers as 48-year-old Christian Camacho of Vienna, Va., who was driving the Tesla Cybertruck, and 37-year-old Carlos Montero of Sterling, Va., who was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini.

On Friday, Camacho voluntarily turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Racing and Stopping on the Highway. Montero was arrested the same day and charged with Racing, Stopping on the Highway, and two counts of Improper Lane Change.

Both drivers were later released on an unsecured bond. FCPD announced on social media that detectives are still seeking the “flagger” involved in the race and encourage anyone with information to call 703-280-0543.
