East Quogue Man Indicted for First-Degree Murder in Alleged Torture Killing

October 10, 2024

Suffolk County, NY — Jeremy Allen, 43, of East Quogue, has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and related offenses for the alleged torture and killing of his former friend Christopher Hahn, 43. The indictment was announced Thursday by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on September 27, 2024, after Allen and Hahn, who had known each other since high school, spent the evening at a bar and later went to Allen’s residence on Oakville Avenue. Surveillance footage allegedly captured Allen brutally beating Hahn for 18 minutes shortly after midnight, followed by footage showing Hahn being dragged onto the back deck, where he was left in a semi-conscious state.

Later, Allen allegedly struck Hahn multiple times with a baseball bat before placing a plastic bag over Hahn’s head, watching him struggle to breathe for about eight minutes. The surveillance video also allegedly captured Allen stabbing Hahn in the neck 10 times with a knife, ultimately resulting in his death after six hours of reported torture.

The following morning, Allen allegedly contacted a handyman to clean the house. The handyman, upon discovering the scene, persuaded Allen to let him leave and subsequently alerted the police. Authorities apprehended Allen at his residence.

Allen was arraigned on October 10 before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and tampering with physical evidence. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 14. If convicted of the top charge, he faces a potential life sentence.
