Fall is Officially On! Halloween weekend brings brisk winds and a chill across New Jersey

October 31, 2025

TRENTON, NJ – Halloween revelers across the region will need to brace for blustery conditions and falling temperatures as a gusty cold front sweeps through the Mid-Atlantic.

Forecasters say winds could gust as high as 45 mph Friday, making for a brisk and unsettled start to the weekend.

Clear skies return Friday night, but the cold air sticks around, with temperatures dipping into the low 40s and gusts still reaching 40 mph.

Key Points

  • Strong winds up to 45 mph Friday with cooler air moving in
  • Temperatures drop into the 30s and low 40s overnight through Sunday
  • Sunday brings calm, sunny weather after morning frost

Winds whip through Friday

The National Weather Service has extended a wind advisory through 11 p.m. Friday for much of Delaware, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania, including the Philadelphia metro area. West winds between 15 and 25 mph, with higher gusts, may bring down branches and make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles. Despite the bluster, afternoon highs will hover near 57 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday offers a break

After a breezy Friday night, calmer weather arrives Saturday. Temperatures will climb close to 59 degrees under increasing clouds, and winds will ease to around 10 mph. By nightfall, skies clear again with lows dropping to the mid-30s, signaling a chilly Halloween night for outdoor events and late trick-or-treating.

Frosty morning on Sunday

Early Sunday could see patchy frost across inland areas before sunshine takes over. The day will remain cool, with highs near 60 degrees and light winds offering a calmer close to the weekend. Overnight lows will settle near 41 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Calm before November chill

The mild and tranquil finish to Halloween weekend won’t last long. Forecasters expect cooler air to return early next week, with overnight lows dipping back into the 30s and daytime highs in the low 50s — a sign that November’s chill is settling in.
