Fatal Pedestrian Collision Under Investigation in Dover

DOVER, DE – The Dover Police Department is currently investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a 57-year-old man from Dover.

The incident was reported at approximately 9:35 p.m., involving a pedestrian collision at the intersection of North DuPont Highway and Kings Highway NE. Dover Police, upon receiving the call, promptly responded to the scene. Officers found the victim and immediately provided aid. The victim was then transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Initial findings from the investigation indicate that the victim was crossing North DuPont Highway, south of the Kings Highway NE intersection, heading westward. At the same time, a 2014 Ford Focus, driven by an 82-year-old Dover resident, was traveling southbound on North DuPont Highway. As the vehicle approached the intersection, it collided with the victim. It was noted that the victim was not wearing any reflective material at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Ford Focus did not sustain any injuries. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the family is duly notified.
