Fight leads to two injured in Wilkes-Barre after being struck by fleeing vehicle

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Two men were hospitalized Monday night after being struck by a vehicle during a confrontation on Barney Street, Wilkes-Barre police said.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Barney Street at approximately 7:59 p.m. for reports of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, police found two victims, a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old, both of Wilkes-Barre, who said they had been hit by a car.

According to the victims, the incident began when a white Ford sedan illegally passed their vehicle on Barney Street. The victims later exited their car and confronted the occupants of the Ford, leading to a physical altercation. The suspects then got back into their vehicle and initially fled northbound before turning around and driving directly toward the victims, striking both before fleeing the area.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.

The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
