DORCHESTER, MD — The Maryland State Fire Marshal announced an investigation into a structure fire that occurred on Thursday evening. The incident took place at a three-story, wood-frame, single-family house located at 1003 Travers Street, Cambridge, Dorchester County.

The fire, reported at 6:13 PM, prompted a response from the Rescue Fire Company. A total of 50 firefighters were involved, and it took them approximately one hour to control the blaze. The fire originated in the first-floor utility room, though the cause remains under investigation.

The property suffered significant damage, with the structure and contents estimated losses amounting to $400,000. A firefighter was transported to Tidal Health in Salisbury for treatment of non-life-threatening burns.
