Former U.S. Border Officer Sentenced in Child Pornography Case

May 25, 2026

A former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer has been sentenced to federal prison after investigators found hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material on his computer, according to federal prosecutors in Detroit.

Scott Rocky, 58, of Center Line, Michigan, was sentenced to 72 months in prison after being convicted of distribution of child pornography.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Terrence G. Berg, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan announced.

Investigators Found Hundreds of Files

According to court records, Rocky shared and downloaded hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material through peer-to-peer file-sharing applications in April 2025.

Federal agents later executed a search warrant at Rocky’s residence and discovered more than 500 accessed images depicting child sexual abuse material on his computer.

Prosecutors said the material included images involving toddlers, infants, and prepubescent children.

FBI and Federal Officials Condemn Crimes

U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr. sharply criticized Rocky’s actions, emphasizing the breach of public trust tied to the case.

“We trust law enforcement to uphold the law and protect Americans,” Gorgon said in a statement. “This pervert violated our trust and broke the law so that he could hurt children.”

FBI Detroit Special Agent in Charge Jennifer Runyan said no law enforcement position shields offenders from prosecution.

“This sentence should serve as a warning: no badge, title, or position of public trust will shield anyone who exploits our children from facing justice under federal law,” Runyan said.

The FBI Detroit Crimes Against Children Squad investigated the case alongside the Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility.
