Frederick man charged after 70 mph crash kills pedestrian

Gaithersburg, MD – A Frederick man has been charged months after a high-speed crash in Germantown left a 34-year-old pedestrian dead, according to Montgomery County police.

Dione Jordan, 27, was arrested Wednesday, February 4, by the Montgomery County Department of Police Fugitive Unit. He is charged with manslaughter by vehicle – gross negligence in connection with the August 20, 2025 collision.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Frederick Road and Ridge Road. Investigators determined Jordan was driving a black 2022 Toyota Corolla southbound on Frederick Road when he struck Branden Corey Williams, 34, who was crossing the roadway.

According to Montgomery County Police, collision reconstruction detectives found that Jordan was traveling approximately 70 mph in a posted 45-mph zone as he approached the intersection.

Evidence showed the traffic signal transitioned from green to yellow several seconds before Jordan entered the intersection. Detectives concluded he accelerated in an attempt to pass through before the light turned red.

Investigators determined Williams was crossing Frederick Road about 40 feet south of the nearest crosswalk when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On December 3, 2025, detectives presented the case to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. Jordan was later taken into custody and charged with manslaughter by vehicle – gross negligence.
