Harrisburg man arrested in fatal shooting near Park Street after two-day manhunt

HARRISBURG, PA — A man accused in a deadly shooting near North 18th and Park Streets was taken into custody Tuesday after a warrant was issued just one day earlier, ending a two-day search by city police.

Javar Dejuan Geter, whose charges include one count of murder, was apprehended and booked into the Dauphin County Booking Facility, where he is awaiting arraignment. Authorities say Geter was identified as the suspected shooter in a homicide that unfolded in the area last week, prompting a swift investigation and issuance of a criminal warrant on Monday.

In addition to murder, Geter faces one count of carrying a firearm without a license, a third-degree felony, and one count of recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor. The charges stem from a violent incident that left one person dead and put nearby residents at risk, according to Harrisburg police records.
