Giant Eagle customer cashes in $112M golden ticket

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Mega Millions ticket worth $112 million sold in South Euclid has officially been claimed through a legal trust, according to the Ohio Lottery.

The winning ticket from the April 18 drawing matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball. The prize was claimed by The Ironwood Family Trust, with James S. Ausse, Esq. listed as trustee. The winner chose the lump sum cash option of $56 million. After 28 percent in mandatory taxes, the trust will receive $40,320,000.

The jackpot-winning ticket was purchased at the Giant Eagle supermarket located at 4401 Mayfield Road in South Euclid. The retailer is expected to receive a bonus for selling the winning ticket.

This marks the 21st Mega Millions jackpot win in Ohio since the state joined the game.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with drawings held every Tuesday and Friday.
