The Washington County resident, who works in quality control, purchased a $20 Gifts of Green scratch-off and took his time revealing each section. During the process, he uncovered an instant $500,000 prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at AC&T convenience store in Hagerstown. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.
