BROOKLYN, NY—A non-gender conforming individual was attacked while sitting on the front steps of their home near Boerum Street and Bushwick Avenue. The incident, which occurred recently, involved two male assailants who approached the victim, made derogatory comments about their sexual orientation, and struck them in the head with a metal pipe before fleeing.

The victim suffered head bruising but declined medical treatment at the scene. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation, seeking the two males last seen wearing multicolored clothing. Authorities are calling for any information that can assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects involved in this hate crime.
