Mother walking with toddler assaulted in Howell Township suspect sought
Howell Township, NJ – A woman walking with her 2-year-old child in a stroller was assaulted from behind in broad daylight Friday afternoon, prompting a police investigation and public plea for information on the suspect, who fled the area on foot.
The assault occurred on November 17 at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Pinewood Road near Cecilia Court. According to Howell Township Police, the suspect approached the woman from behind, placed her in a choke-hold, and threw her to the ground. The suspect ran from the scene when the victim screamed for help. The child was not reported injured.
The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’8” with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hood, a dark-colored jacket with light-colored stripes on the sleeves, dark pants, and white athletic sneakers.

Investigators believe the suspect had been walking in the surrounding area—Pinewood Road, Cecilia Court, Violet Circle, and Poppy Lane—for an extended period prior to the attack. A dash camera in the area captured an image of the man believed to be the suspect. In the photo, he is seen walking on a sidewalk wearing a tan hood, dark jacket with striped sleeves, dark pants, and white sneakers.
