NJ man charged after alleged assault of 15 year old girl

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — A Weehawken man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a female juvenile, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Richard Moran, 25, of Weehawken, was arrested Wednesday, March 4, by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Authorities charged Moran with sexual assault, a second-degree crime, and endangering the welfare of a child, a third-degree crime.

Investigators said the alleged incidents occurred on multiple dates in June 2025 at the defendant’s residence when the victim was 15 years old.

Officials said Moran met the juvenile through the social media platform Instagram.

Following his arrest, Moran was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility where he is being held pending his first court appearance.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said anyone wishing to report a sex crime can contact the agency’s Special Victims Unit.

Authorities noted that the charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
