STAFFORD, Va. — A Stafford County resident reported discovering an unauthorized student loan opened using their personal information, triggering a fraud investigation.
Deputy Pitts responded around 10:32 a.m. Thursday to the report on Blast Furnace Way.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the victim learned that a student loan account had been opened using their personally identifiable information.
The victim contacted their credit company, which has begun an investigation into the fraudulent activity.
