JACKSON, N.J. — Shane Werosta, a Life Scout from Troop 204, is leading an Eagle Scout project to provide comfort to patients at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) who are battling liver-related illnesses.
Werosta, a CHOP patient himself, is creating no-sew fleece tied blankets for hospitalized children. Diagnosed with Biliary Atresia at birth, he underwent surgery at just two months old and was later placed on the liver transplant list during his freshman year of high school. Now a high school senior, his condition has improved, and he is listed as inactive on the transplant list.
“I chose to do this for my project to give back to CHOP and the patients because I am also a patient at CHOP,” Werosta said.
He is seeking donations to support his project, with all funds going toward materials for the blankets. Any remaining donations will be given directly to CHOP.
