New Jersey Powerball player wins $500K as jackpot climbs to $1.6 billion

Trenton, NJ — A New Jersey Lottery player scored a $500,000 Powerball prize using the Jackpocket app on Saturday, while 11 others across the state also walked away with winnings of at least $50,000 — as the national jackpot now surges to a staggering $1.6 billion for tonight’s drawing.

The half-million-dollar win came from the Powerball Double Play drawing, a secondary game option where the player matched five white balls to claim the six-figure prize. The winning Double Play numbers were 05, 08, 19, 23, and 43, with the Double Play ball being 06. The Double Play top prize remains $10 million.

Meanwhile, in the main Powerball drawing, which featured numbers 04, 05, 28, 52, and 69 with a Power Ball of 20 and a multiplier of 03, eight New Jersey players matched four white balls and the Power Ball to win $50,000 each. Two more players won $50,000 each through the Double Play draw by matching four white balls and the red ball.

The growing jackpot — now the fourth-largest in Powerball history — has a current estimated cash value of $735.3 million. It has been climbing since September 6, when two winners from Missouri and Texas split the $1.8 billion prize.

New Jersey has seen a surge of high-tier winners during the current run. A total of 64 players have claimed prizes of $50,000 or more, including one who won $2 million, five who took home $1 million each, and several others with prizes ranging from $100,000 to $500,000.

The Powerball jackpot ranks among the game’s top ten largest payouts of all time. Tonight’s draw could push it even higher depending on sales volume and whether a winner is drawn.
