Passenger armed with loaded handgun, multiple drugs arrested in Anne Arundel County
LINTHICUM, Md. – A rideshare trip in Anne Arundel County ended in an arrest Tuesday night after a driver reported a passenger allegedly carrying a firearm and dealing drugs, leading officers to recover a loaded handgun and multiple controlled substances.
The incident unfolded around 9:10 p.m. in the 700 block of Elkridge Landing Road, where officers responded after the driver entered a nearby business and called 911 to report concerns about the passenger in his vehicle.
When officers arrived, they located the suspect seated in the backseat. Police said the individual complied with commands to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
Loaded handgun, multiple drugs recovered
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, a search of the suspect led to the recovery of several illegal items.

“A loaded handgun was recovered from the suspect’s waistband, and 1.76 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, .69 grams of suspected cocaine, six suspected oxycodone pills and 5.1 grams of suspected marijuana were located on the suspect,” police said. “The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.”

Suspect identified and charged
Authorities identified the suspect as Montarius Wise, a 31-year-old man from Baltimore, Maryland. He now faces multiple charges related to weapons violations and controlled dangerous substances.
Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the rideshare trip or whether further investigation is ongoing.
