VINELAND, NJ – A lockdown was initiated at Inspira Medical Center after a patient suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound early Saturday.
Law enforcement initially responded to what was suspected to be an active shooter situation at the hospital. The facility took immediate lockdown precautions. It was later clarified that the situation was a singular event.In a statement, Kathy Scullin-Marinelli, Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications at Inspira Health, confirmed, “At around 8:40 a.m. today, a patient inflicted a gunshot wound upon themselves while under our supervision. Security staff promptly secured the firearm involved, and no other physical harm occurred. All are currently safe.”The incident remains under active investigation by the police. No additional injuries have been reported.
