Long Neck raid nets guns drugs Millsboro man jailed

Long Neck, DE – A search warrant executed at a Ritter Drive property led to the arrest of a Millsboro man on felony drug and weapons charges after troopers uncovered firearms, methamphetamine and related paraphernalia inside the home, according to Delaware State Police.

The Delaware State Police said members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, Sussex County Drug Unit and the agency’s Special Operations Response Team carried out the warrant Wednesday following an investigation into alleged narcotics distribution from the residence.

Authorities identified the suspect as 56-year-old Joseph Anderson of Millsboro. During the execution of the warrant, police said Anderson attempted to discard narcotics in a kitchen sink before being detained without incident.

A search of the property resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, including a 12-gauge double barrel shotgun, a 12-gauge pump shotgun, a 12-gauge single shot shotgun, a .50 caliber muzzleloader and a .22 caliber handgun. Troopers also recovered assorted ammunition.

Investigators said they located approximately 4.11 grams of methamphetamine, one Diazepam pill, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia inside the residence.

Charges and court proceedings

Police said Anderson was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with felony drug and weapons offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $67,500 secured bond.

The investigation was conducted by the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force and the Sussex County Drug Unit, working in coordination with state police tactical personnel. Additional case details are expected to be available through regional Sussex County crime reporting channels.
