JACKSON, NJ (OP-ED)- During the November 2022 general election for mayor in Jackson Township, Shore News Network revealed a planned land deal by Councilman Marty Flemming to sell all of the properties owned by himself and his family to an unknown LLC based out of Monsey, New York.
Flemming and his team immediately shouted ‘fake news’. They denied the claim that Flemming was unloading all of his real estate assets in Jackson and Lakehurst behind closed doors to Lakewood and New York-based entities. At the same time, he was telling voters he was committed to the township of Jackson.
In fact, Flemming was rumored to have said if he sold his properties, it would only be ‘to a Jewish buyer’.
Well, folks, that’s what happened, and Shore News Network was right.
According to the Ocean County Clerk’s Office, Flemming and his relatives living on Murdoch Place, an enclave built by the councilman years ago, have sold their homes to an unidentified LLC, based out of North Jersey. Flemming also sold his commercial property in Lakehurst Township to a Lakewood-based LLC operating out of the offices of a Lakewood civilian safety group for $1.2 million.
Flemming is of course, allowed to sell his homes to whoever he wants, but what’s important here is that the longtime resident wasn’t being truthful to voters back in November when he was running for office. He was building his potential exit plan. There’s also nothing wrong with selling your business and properties to the highest bidder without ever listing them on the MLS or going through a realtor. Many in Jackson have done it. Many plan to do it in the near future as they exit the town.
Sources in town hall said Flemming has agreed to stay on with the township government until his term ends in 2024.
Prior to his campaign for mayor, Flemming had attempted to list his properties for sale, then backed off the deal during his election campaign.
