Lost German shepherd safely reunited with owner in Piscataway

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A German shepherd named Bishop is back home safe after being found wandering near West 7th Street and Harvard Street earlier Saturday, according to the Piscataway Township Police Department.

Police said Bishop was located and cared for while officers worked to identify his owner.

By late afternoon, the department confirmed through social media that Bishop had been reunited with his family.

Police share update after quick recovery
Authorities first issued a “Found Dog Alert” on Facebook, asking residents to help identify Bishop and contact police with any information. Within hours, the department announced an update: “Bishop is home safely!! Thank you!”

The Facebook post drew numerous shares and comments from community members who helped spread the word, leading to Bishop’s swift return.

Community response praised
Police thanked residents for their quick assistance in locating the dog’s owner, highlighting how social media alerts continue to help reunite lost pets with their families.

The department encouraged anyone who finds a stray animal in Piscataway to report it immediately by calling 732-562-1100.
