OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Officials are warning residents to brace for a potentially dangerous weekend storm expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and significant coastal flooding from Saturday evening through Monday morning.
The Ocean Township Office of Emergency Management issued the alert Thursday, urging residents to take precautions and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
Authorities said flooding during high-tide cycles could make several local roads impassable and hazardous for motorists.
Drivers are being asked to plan alternate routes, move vehicles from low-lying areas, and monitor local updates for changing conditions.
Officials urge caution and preparation
Emergency officials stressed that even shallow floodwaters can stall vehicles or sweep them off roadways. Residents in flood-prone areas are encouraged to prepare early and check on vulnerable neighbors ahead of the storm.
Township monitoring conditions through the weekend
The Ocean Township Police Department and local emergency management teams will monitor conditions around the clock as the system moves through the region.
Residents are advised to stay tuned to official channels for weather advisories and safety information throughout the weekend.
As the storm approaches, officials say one simple rule could save lives: turn around, don’t drown.
