Man Accidentally Shot Himself With Gun Sitting on Public Bench, Charged

WOODBRIDGE, VA—On May 28, Prince William County Police successfully apprehended Malikh Christian Jamison, 34, who was wanted in connection with a shooting incident that occurred earlier this month. Jamison, who reportedly has no fixed address, was arrested following an incident that took place on May 18 near the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Marblestone Drive in Woodbridge.

The initial incident involved Jamison allegedly firing a handgun while lying on a public bench, which resulted in him accidentally shooting himself in the foot.

He was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other injuries or property damage were reported in the incident.

Jamison has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm. Details regarding his court date and bond status remain pending.

The arrest marks the conclusion of a search that began immediately following the shooting, with police efforts intensifying after the issuance of arrest warrants.

The Prince William County Police Department continues to emphasize the importance of responsible firearm handling and public safety.
