NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department has arrested Ruben Ruiz, a 53-year-old undomiciled man, in connection with a string of burglaries in Brooklyn’s 88th Precinct. Ruiz faces 17 counts of second-degree burglary.
The charges stem from a series of incidents that occurred between September 14 and September 28, 2024. In the first incident, on September 14, an individual forcibly entered a residence near Atlantic Avenue and Saint James Place at approximately 6:04 p.m., stealing tools valued at about $1,900 before fleeing on a bicycle.
In a second reported burglary on September 21, the suspect entered a residence near Lafayette Avenue and Grand Avenue at approximately 4:25 a.m. and took tools valued at around $1,200. The individual fled eastbound on Lafayette Avenue by bicycle.
Two additional burglaries were reported on September 28. At 12:59 a.m., the suspect entered another residence near Atlantic Avenue and Saint James Place and removed more tools before fleeing on a bicycle. Later that morning, at approximately 5:57 a.m., the individual entered a residence near Grand Avenue and Clifton Place, this time stealing food items and fleeing northbound.
Ruiz was apprehended in connection with these incidents and is facing multiple burglary charges.
