Bullet Pierces Arnold Home After Gunfire on Jones Station Road, Police Say

Anne Arundel County detectives are investigating after residents heard a gunshot and later discovered a bullet had penetrated the rear wall of their home.

ARNOLD, Md. – Anne Arundel County Police are investigating after a bullet struck and penetrated an occupied residence in Arnold Thursday evening, leaving a hole through an exterior wall at the rear of the home.

Officers responded at approximately 7 p.m. to the 1200 block of Jones Station Road for a report of property damage caused by a fired projectile, according to the department. Police classified the incident as a non-contact shooting, meaning no person was reported struck by the gunfire.

Residents told responding officers they had heard what sounded like a gunshot and later discovered the damage to their house. “They heard the sound of a gunshot and later discovered a bullet hole through the exterior wall at the rear of the home,” police said.

When officers arrived, they met with the residents and learned they had heard a gunshot before discovering the bullet hole. Police did not report that anyone inside or around the residence was injured.

The department did not say where the bullet originated or whether investigators recovered the projectile. No information about a possible shooter, firearm or motive was included in the initial report.
