New Palestine, IN – An Indiana man faces charges for allegedly abusing four children in his care. Curtis Bordenkircher, 35, has been charged with four counts of neglecting a dependent with cruelly confining or abandoning and two counts of intimidation with threats to commit a forcible felony.
The charges were filed in Hancock County Superior Court and stem from an investigation that began last month. Law enforcement became aware of the situation when a child texted their mother asking for assistance.
During a visit on October 15, deputies heard multiple allegations against Bordenkircher. Reports indicate that one girl claimed he beat her with a belt and made her stand in a corner until her legs became numb.
Another child alleged that Bordenkircher pushed her against a wall and threatened her. Court documents reveal he made comments about slaughtering the children in their sleep while displaying a knife.
The children reportedly stood in the corner of the home for periods of up to six hours. They could only leave the corner for bathroom breaks if Bordenkircher left the house.
One child shared that they were whipped while drinking a beer, indicating that the behavior was routine. A sibling remarked that Bordenkircher would become angry after drinking multiple beers.
Bordenkircher posted a $600 cash bond on November 6 and agreed to a no-contact order with the children. He is due in court for a pretrial conference on December 4.
