WASHINGTON — A 31-year-old man from Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday for the stabbing death of Damohn Gill in June 2021, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Aaron Jackson was convicted of first-degree murder while armed and carrying a dangerous weapon. He also received five years of supervised release as part of his sentence.

The sentencing was handed down by Superior Court Judge Michael O’Keefe, following Jackson’s conviction in May. According to court documents, the fatal stabbing occurred on June 24, 2021, in the parking lot of the Orchard Park Apartments. Jackson and Gill, 27, briefly exchanged words before Jackson pulled out a knife and stabbed Gill nine times. Gill attempted to flee but was fatally injured. Jackson fled the scene.

In the days following the murder, Jackson posted on Instagram, bragging about the killing, according to evidence presented during the trial. Jackson was arrested shortly after the incident.

U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith commended the investigative efforts of the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their work on the case.
