Shreveport, LA – A man has received a life sentence for the murder of 23-year-old Heaven Weed. Brandon Lindsey, 36, will not be eligible for parole or a suspension of his sentence.
Lindsey was convicted for beating his girlfriend until her brain swelled. Following the attack, he stayed with her without seeking help while she lay unconscious.
On March 1, Weed and Lindsey attended a nightclub in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. They returned to Weed’s home where Lindsey allegedly attacked her, causing extensive injuries.
The next day, March 2, he went to work before returning to her residence around 11:45 a.m. GPS and phone data indicated he remained there until Weed’s mother arrived at approximately 8 p.m.
Once her mother found her unresponsive, she took Weed to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. Doctors noted she suffered from severe injuries including swelling of the brain and multiple bruises.

Weed succumbed to her injuries ten days after her admission to the hospital. Her organs were subsequently donated.
At her home, law enforcement discovered a strong smell of bleach and cleaning products. They found blood spatter throughout the residence and items containing Weed’s blood in the washing machine.
During the investigation, Lindsey’s clothing from the nightclub was also found to have traces of Weed’s blood. He was arrested shortly thereafter.
A former girlfriend of Lindsey testified about his history of abuse. She described receiving serious injuries during their relationship, including broken bones.
Weed was remembered as adventurous and full of life. Her obituary noted she was the first in her family to graduate college and made a positive impact on those around her.
