Schenectady man arrested after late-night shooting leaves victim wounded

Schenectady, NY – A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Sunday night shooting that left one man hospitalized with gunshot wounds to both legs following gunfire near Hulett and State streets.

Police said the shooting happened around 10:37 p.m. when officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area. At the scene, officers discovered a blood trail leading away from the intersection. Moments later, they located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds on Catherine Street.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives launched an investigation that quickly led them to identify a suspect.

Investigators later arrested 32-year-old Tarelle D. Rowell of Schenectady, charging him with first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Rowell remains in custody as detectives continue to gather evidence and determine a possible motive.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and encouraged anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the Schenectady Police Department.
