Man shot inside Germantown Giant grocery store as suspects flee after chaotic chase

A late-night shooting inside a crowded supermarket sent shoppers running as two suspects remain at large.

Gaithersburg, MD – A shooting inside a Germantown grocery store Friday night left one man wounded and prompted a search for two suspects who fled after the attack. The incident unfolded as customers and employees filled the store, triggering panic and a rapid police response.

Officers responded around 8:45 p.m. to the Giant Food store in the 18300 block of Leaman Farm Road after reports of gunfire. Inside, they located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators say the violence began when two male suspects entered the store and chased the victim through the aisles. As the victim ran toward the checkout area, one suspect fired multiple shots, striking him twice while shoppers scrambled for cover.
